There is no entrance fee, so you can come down and enjoy the atmosphere and the music at no cost. There will be fees to enjoy the ribs, beverages and various other food and goods from the vendors. Please bring cash as the vendors are unable to accept credit or debit cards. ATM machines will be on site.
You could drive, but there is very limited parking at Bullen Park. Instead, we suggest you walk, ride your bike, or take public transit. If you want to take public transit, the bus lines 6, 10, 24, 26 all go down Esquimalt Road near Bullen Park (closest stop would be at Archie Browning Arena). See the Victoria Regional Transit website for details of schedules or try Google maps.
Parking is available on streets around Bullen Park. There will be limited parking in the Archie Browning Arena parking lot (after the car show on Saturday). Please obey parking signs and observe Residents only parking notices.
Parking is not permitted in the Esquimalt Plaza shopping centre.

There will be handicapped parking spots available behind the Archie Browning Sports Centre, in designated spots. Handicapped washroom on site
No animals are allowed, except for guide dogs and service dogs.
All beverages will be $6.00 per serving. See our Brews page for more about the brewers joining us this year.
Ribfests are more common in the Eastern parts of both the U.S. and Canada but this awesome concept is finally creeping west and we are proud to say that the Esquimalt Ribfest is the first one on Vancouver Island! So the first thing you notice about Ribfest is the wonderful smell of BBQ Ribs in fact you could be a mile away when your olfactory glands kick in and let you know something really good is close by.
The Ribbers; as the professional BBQ teams are known, gently smoke their ribs and brisket for hours. They generally use local wood but prefer any type of fruit tree wood in their giant smokers to create a unique and special flavour.
The next and most important thing you’ll notice is that this is truly a community event.
Live blues, Kids Zone, vendors, cold craft brews and ciders; it is completely a family friendly environment. With five Ribbers from all over North America, some incredibly talented musicians, entry by donation and a chance to dine on some of the finest ribs available anywhere, we think we’ve stumbled on to something pretty special!
Esquimalt Ribfest is a NO SMOKING event. There will be receptacles for cigarette butts outside the main entrance. There is no smoking in the beer garden, but there will be in and out privileges so you can smoke outside the venue and return to the beer garden.
The line-ups for ribs may be shorter? Seriously, though, if it rains, bring your umbrella and wear your rain gear – this event happens rain or shine!
You bet! There will be a special Kids Zone with bouncy castles, crafts and inflatables, games and other good kid stuff.
We wouldn’t be able to host this event without sponsors. Please check out our Sponsor page if you want to be a Sponsor of this great Festival. To see who is involved in the Esquimalt Ribfest see our “Hall of Flame” page for this years Sponsors. You can contact us at email@example.com if you want to be one of our sponsors.
Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to confirm if gluten-free options will be labelled, but it seems likely that some of the BBQ meat from the Ribbers will be gluten free. At the event, you can ask each Ribber for confirmation.
See our Vendors page for food options, including gluten free and vegetarian.
Both beef and pork ribs will be available, as well as roasted chicken (from some of the Ribbers). There will be at least one vendor that will be selling a vegetarian meal option.
